Sincerely,

Brian Stewart

Endorsement from Congresssmen Austria and Stivers

Austria, Stivers endorse Stewart for Commissioner

Friday, November 2, 2012 6:25 pm

Congressman Steve Austria and Congressman Steve Stivers both have announced their endorsement of Brian Stewart for Pickaway County Commissioner.

“During my time in Congress, I’ve known Brian Stewart as an effective elected leader in Pickaway County,” said Rep. Austria. “It’s been an honor to represent Pickaway County, and I believe Brian is the kind of young leader the county needs to continue moving in the right direction.”

Congressman Austria elected not to run for re-election to Congress after representing Pickaway County for two terms. Following redistricting, the county will now be part of the 15th District, which Congressman Steve Stivers is running to represent. Mr. Stivers also endorsed Stewart.

“Brian Stewart has helped introduce me to Pickaway County, he’s been great to work with, and I know he’ll be a great Commissioner,” said Stivers. “We actually served in Iraq during the same time in 2005, and I look forward to working closely with Brian to continue improving the economy in Ohio and Pickaway County.”

Brian Stewart currently serves as an Ashville Councilman, and is a business attorney with the law firm of Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP. He is also an infantry veteran of the Iraq War, and the Republican candidate for Pickaway County Commissioner on Nov. 6.

“I’m very thankful to have the support of both Congressman Austria and Congressman Stivers,” said Stewart. “Congressman Austria has been a great advocate for this county, provided fantastic constituent service to our residents, and served us very well in Washington. He will certainly be missed. Congressman Stivers is an effective public servant, a respected leader on issues affecting our economy, and he’s already doing great things for Pickaway County. As Commissioner, I will work to continue the progress that’s been made with the help of Steve Austria, and I will work closely with Steve Stivers to continue improving Pickaway County.”

Endorsement from U.S. Senator Rob Portman

From the Circleville Herald:

Portman endorses Stewart for commissioner

United States Senator Rob Portman recently announced his endorsement of Brian Stewart for Pickaway County Commissioner.

“Brian Stewart worked hard for my campaign for the U.S. Senate, both in Pickaway County and on my Statewide Veterans Steering Committee,” Portman said. “I’ve gotten to know Brian during my visits to Circleville, and with his background in public service and as an Iraq War veteran, he will make a great Pickaway County Commissioner.”

Stewart currently serves as an Ashville councilman, and is also an attorney with the law firm of Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP. In 2003, he left college at the Ohio State University and enlisted for active duty in the U.S. Army.

He served as an infantryman, graduated from Airborne School, and served until 2006, including a year-long deployment to the Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad in 2005. For his actions, Stewart was twice awarded the Army Commendation Medal, and also earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

He is the Republican candidate for Pickaway County Commissioner this fall, for the term commencing January 3, 2013.

“Senator Portman is one of the most principled and effective public servants I’ve had the privilege to know, and I’m honored to have his support,” Stewart said. “We share a belief that fiscal responsibility with taxpayers’ money, coupled with policies that encourage economic development, will bring prosperity to Ohio and Pickaway County.”

Stewart beats Fountain for Republican commissioner nomination

REGGIE ALLISON, STAFF REPORTER | Posted: Wednesday, March 7, 2012 2:30 am

CIRCLEVILLE – With unofficial results in from the Pickaway County Board of Elections, Brian Stewart of Ashville won the Republican nomination for the county commissioner’s seat with term commencing Jan. 3, 2013, over Jayme Hartley Fountain of Circleville.

Stewart will now face Dan Bradhurst, the Democratic nominee, and Mark Perrill, an Independent candidate, in the general election this November.

Stewart earned 59.2 percent (3,803 votes) versus Fountain’s 40.8 percent (2,621 votes).

“First I’d just say ‘thank you’ to Jayme Fountain,” said Stewart, following the announcement of his nomination victory. “I think we both ran very positive campaigns, and the voters appreciated that, the party appreciates it; it sets a god example of what a contested primary can look like. I’ve enjoyed getting to know her at the events we’ve been at together.”

Stewart said winning the nomination feels good, especially after he and his supporters knocked on the doors of around 3,300 people around the county in less than two months. He said there was no way he could have done it alone, having the support of friends both old and new who helped him along with his campaign.

“It’s interesting; there’s an awful lot of diverse things that fall into the commissioners’ responsibilities, from the dog shelter to radio frequencies to many things in between, but we’ve stayed focused on the two things that I think are most important right now: managing the peoples’ money and actively supporting the businesses we have in Pickaway County.”

Endorsement from Ohio Veterans United

From the Circleville Herald:

Stewart receives endorsement from veterans group

MATT LUCAS, STAFF REPORTER | Posted: Thursday, February 2, 2012 11:35 am

Brian Stewart received an endorsement for his race as Pickaway County Commissioner on Wednesday from Ohio Veterans United (OVU), a statewide political action committee.

Stewart, who is a member of Ashville village council, is a combat veteran of the Iraq War, having left college at the Ohio State University in 2003 to enlist for active duty in the U.S. Army.

“Following a thorough review of the candidate’s background, experience, and positions on issues, we believe that Brian Stewart shares our core values, including being staunch and effective supporters of our military and our veterans,” said Harry Prestanski, executive director for Ohio Veterans United.

Stewart served as an infantryman, graduated from Airborne School, and served until 2006. This included a year-long deployment to the Sadr City neighborhood of Baghdad in 2005. For his actions, Stewart was twice awarded the Army Commendation Medal, and he also earned the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB). He is now an attorney, having completed school on the GI Bill.

“Serving our country in war gave me an even greater appreciation for how blessed we are to live in America,” Stewart said. “My military experience helped make me an effective leader and strengthened my belief that public service is very important.”

Stewart serves as vice president of the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial in Sunbury, which maintains a marker for all Ohio service members killed in the War on Terror, and he is a member of the VFW. The OVU endorsement cites his advocacy for military families through the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial.

“Ohio Veterans United has endorsed candidates at every level of government, all across Ohio,” Stewart mentioned. “My campaign is focused on providing fiscal responsibility with the taxpayers’ money and bringing jobs to the county, and I’m honored to have OVU’s support … It’s really great to have the endorsement because they (OVU) do a lot of work for military veterans and their families.”

He added that the best way to help veterans is to make sure they have jobs. He said he thinks the county has done a good job honoring veterans, and, if elected, he would like to look for additional ways to help them. He also said he would like to recognize the students at all Pickaway County high schools who are enlisting in the military.

According to Prestanski, OVU’s mission is to educate citizens on the need to maintain a strong national defense and to help elect qualified veterans and like-minded non-veterans to office.

“We are strong advocates of legislation that fully supports our troops, military families and Veterans and we work to ensure that every military absentee ballot is counted in every election,” Prestanski said.

Stewart, a Republican, is running in the March 6 primary election. He is opposed by Jayme Hartley Fountain, a Republican, who is running for the same seat.

A Letter from Brian Stewart

Thank you for visiting my website. In today’s difficult economy, we need leaders willing to make the tough decisions in order to force government to live within its means, and efficiently provide necessary services. As a councilman for the Village of Ashville, I’ve gained significant experience with the issues facing local government. And as a combat veteran of the Iraq War, I feel a strong call to public service. Therefore, after much deliberation and prayer, I have decided to run for Pickaway County Commissioner in 2012.

I’ve lived in southern Ohio my entire life. I know the challenges and opportunities facing our county and its small towns in these difficult economic times. As County Commissioner, I will bring 1) a dedication to conservative principles of efficient limited government, 2) a willingness and commitment to work with others towards the best interests of the county, and 3) a fresh perspective – beyond the status quo – on how we can achieve our goals. With your support, I know we can get the job done.

This website is here to provide you with more information about my background, my views on the issues facing Pickaway County, and how you can help us in this campaign. I also look forward to hearing from you and hearing your own thoughts and ideas for how to improve our county.

God Bless,
Brian Stewart
